It had truly bothered Thor, to know that a version of his father had been usurped from the throne. Not only because it gave Loki free reign of Asgard (a frightening enough concept), but also because something had happened to a version of Odin.
As many problems as the crown prince had with Odin in the past few months, never would Thor risk a threat to the old man. Odin had raised them, had loved them, and had once bothered to show that love on a regular basis. Odin was their father and this... this was wrong. Thor had to know what Loki had done.
The knowledge that something was wrong, without knowing just what that 'something' was, brought Thor continually back to the dream-like place of alternate time.
It took a bit of asking around, but Thor was finally convinced that he had found the correct version of Loki. He had spoken with many, many versions of his brother, some of whom now wished to know how this meeting went.
"You. We will talk, brother."

Yet, Loki has refrained from merely awaiting Thor to show up. Rather, he has been preparing for this moment. So when the Thunderer arrives, he finds his younger brother unsurprised - And with Gungnir in hand. There is a mild familiarity in this. But not one Loki recalls fondly.
"I do not think we have anything to talk about, Thor." Loki responds, while calculating his brother's anger, but not moving from the rock he is sitting on. Not yet. Not while Thor is still at a safe distance from him.

As Thor fully stepped from the boulders behind him, he noticed the royal sceptre in Loki's hands, and gasped for a moment, pausing in his tracks. Frustration had been pierced with the memory of a deep loss, and the combination of both had unsettled Thor.
He wanted to ask Loki to put it down. The throne of Asgard's All-Father was not Loki's to sit upon. Not now, after everything. But Thor could not ask his brother to part with Gungnir, even for a few moments. Because that image still hurt. Pounded out regret deep in his chest, until Thor felt the physical pain of it. He'd lost Loki. Loki had fallen from the Bifrost and... No. No, that was a time long past.
Head bowed, Thor gulped, walking forward to try to take his brother's free hand. If Loki would let him do so, Thor would then sit upon the rock adjacent to his little brother's.
"You know that is untrue." As Loki made note of Thor's anger, he would likely realize that Thor was still grim and determined with it, but that the memory of such grief, had made short work of his rage.

Loki merely swats his brother's hand away and settles with a glare.
"Stop messing with realities that are not yours to mess with!" he warns, his tone icy. Loki has his own ways of sensing which Thor he is facing. Aside from just how very sentimental this particular one tends to be. He tilts his head back somewhat, so that he can stare down his nose just about enough "I have my own brother to get into my ways already. I do not need an extra one to involve himself with matters that are not his to interfere with!"
He gets on his feet and walks a few steps away, increading the distance between them again before turning back once more to face Thor "The only reason you prevented this for yourself is because you keep your brother locked up. So be thankful for that!"

Given that his own Loki had nearly died, upon 3 occassions over the past 6 months, Thor is certainly more affected by issues regarding Lokis. As Loki smacks his hand away, Thor frowns deeply. He needed to know Loki was alive, after seeing him with Gungnir in hand, once more. Needed to grip his brother's hand so that he couldn't fall away from him again. Instead he was denied, and that rankled.
The anger was back, and Thor rose to his feet, when Loki did the same. Yet he gave his little brother the space that Loki seemed to wish for.
"I am not thankful for it; we have discussed this already." Thor snapped back. "You waste your time together, you betray yourself, as well as him. Is there a point to this madness or do you truly think you help anyone with it? What have you done with father?"

He spits those last words and paces away, eyes glued to his brother.
"If you are worried about Odin, then go look for him instead of me! Maybe I killed him. Maybe I put a spell on him and hid him somewhere. But where? There are countless places in the nine realms that you do know about. That you do not know how to access!" he adds a short, bitter laugh here "But I do. Just as I know what happened to Odin. Give it up, brother. You will never know about this! Return to your idle little life!"

Unsure of how to respond to that, or even what to think of it, Thor blustered out "Loki!" in an incredulous tone. "You cannot mean such things! This does not help you, nor anyone!"

He did not like it, when Loki mocked their familial connection so. Yet Thor's concern and determination were currently winning out over his anger, here.

And, alas, he fires at Thor.

The last time that Thor had attempted to use Mjolnir to deflect a shot from Gungnir, the resultant blast had sent him through the metal brick walls of the Healing Rooms. So this time, Thor attempted to dodge, instead of blocking. Yet speed and agility were difficult, with both no warning, and with Thor's large, muscular mass. So he took the hit to the shoulder, and it threw him back into the boulders behind him.
"Loki, there is no need for this!" he shouted, reluctantly drawing Mjolnir.

Or pin Loki to the ground with it.
"Your throne is of greater importance tha--" Thor was cut off as he was fired upon with Gungnir. As it was, he'd been rolling to his feet after that last shot, so this one came as a surprise, hitting him in the middle of the torso. The pain and shock only lasted a moment. Such an injury reminded him of the stab wound that Loki had once inflicted there, and Thor angrily hurled Mjolnir in Loki's direction. He attempted to stand up again only after the hammer was on its way.

"Than what, Thor?!" he manages to press out.

Thor suddenly pulled the hammer back towards himself, hoping to unbalance Loki, who had been fighting against its force by blocking it. "Than your family. Than your life. Your happiness. Aspirations account for much of enjoyment, but you will never have love or respect, under another's guise. And you will oft be reminded of that."

Any love or respect directed at him in the past were nothing but lies anyway. And he knows.

While Loki's bitterness does stir a little of Thor's compassion, the concern is outweighed by his frustration about having to fight Loki yet again.
"Did you not have it?! He yet mourns you now, does he not?" Thor snarls out.

"You let him lose his mother, and his brother, within days of each other!" Thor finally blurts, continuing to snarl out his words harshly.
Deep down, Thor was still angry about all that had occurred. His own Loki's recent series of near-death experiences, had caused Thor to repress that anger, to keep his little brother happy. But this? This??? Needed more repression than Thor was capable of, apparently.
"Tell me, Liesmith, that he is not a broken man. Regail me of how much your throne means to you, that you'd throw away all chances of the respect and care you have ever claimed to seek, that you might sit there, in Odin's stead. What do the people think of him, Loki? Does it rankle -- having your every accomplishment attributed to him?"

His expression only grows more grim "But, oh, by far he is no broken man. He took both, her and my own death exceptionally well and strode away from Asgard grinning like a moron to return to that mortal of his! Freed of the burden of ruling that he has never been fit to carry. You know, I just might have challenged him there, but he outright declined and moved away. So I may as well keep it. I will prove to them that I am well capable without gaining that disdainful looks as they believe to be bowing down in front of their old King." he barks a short, still grim laugh "But one day, they will learn the truth. That they knelt before me, not Odin, and they were unable to tell the difference!"

At the accusation that he'd failed to protect Frigga, Thor's eyes fill with tears, his jaw dropping slightly from the shock and pain.
"However I may have failed..." Damn it; tears. Thor dashes them off his face angrily. "I accused you not of fault in her death, brother. I accused you of allowing your version of myself, to think half his family torn from him so suddenly. Do not mistake my words."
The pain is still too much for Thor to present as grim and angry a face as he would like to, for this next part, but he just plows right on through the discussion, regardless.
"Yes, then they will respect you," he scoffs. There's a hollow depth to his tone, though, which betrays Thor's grief in spite of his intentions. "The honored copy of Odin."

"I am not letting you get in my way. It is not as you you happen to be able to see the entire picture anyway."

"I see enough of it, to know it is folly!" Thor insisted with obvious frustration.
Looking thoughtful for a moment, Thor spoke more carefully. "Say what you will, but I belong in this. Can you do this, to her family? If you do not mind doing so to yours."

Yet, maybe Loki still hopes for his brother to find out and face him...

Thor flinched when Loki snapped such words at him. Here was the Loki who had erected a golden library in Frigga's honor -- and so Thor had thought him above throwing her death in the face of her eldest son. He had let his guard down, in that much at least. So the wounds of his grief lay open and now aggravated, when Loki decided to mock them by calling Thor sentimental and blind.
Stalking forward, Thor grabbed at Loki's collar and shirt, shaking him once, harshly, before forcing himself to let go. He was shaking and panting with anger, hurt and frustration. He was giving his little brother the anger that Loki wanted from him. Even knowing that, it was a difficult anger to part with -- Loki was thoroughly in the wrong here, and Thor's pain was far too deep to allow himself to respond with anything but anger. Because Thor often used his anger, like his affection, to distract himself from his pain.
"I will do what I can, to prevent her youngest son from ruining his family. Loki... why?" What was worth this much to Loki?

...but of course Thor remains weak.
He makes a show out of not being too bothered by that reaction. His actual brother, he is almost certain, would not hesitate to severely hurt him in this situation. If he knew. If only he knew.
"Why would I tell you." he snarls back and it is not a question.

The flinch makes Thor smile grimly, before glancing away with guilt. It was no more correct for Thor to hurt Loki, while speaking of their mother, than the other way around. And thus Thor should not feel as pleased or justified in his vengeance as he did, when his little brother displayed that fear. Here was Frigga's youngest son, not an enemy. Never an enemy. Only... because they weren't enemies, that made Thor angrier at having been so foully mistreated.
Fuming with a very sulky expression, Thor clenched his jaw and ground out, "Because you have something of yourself, left in there somewhere. You are better than this. You, who built the library to honor her. You would inflict this upon your brother and father, upon her family and yours. You are above causing such heartache, in pointlessness."

Loki adjusts his grip on the spear he still carries to prevent it from slipping away. A grimace forms on his face at Thor's words. Always speaking of those things he doesn't have. Never had!
"Be silent already!" he presses forth throuch clenched teeth, struggling yet again to keep his calm, but slipping long enough to pour his magic into Gungnir and firing an empowered blast at Thor.

Not expecting a continuation of their battle, after Frigga had been mentioned, Thor was caught completely unaware by the blast. It threw him backwards into the boulders and he smacked his head hard enough to crack one. Dust from the stones flew everywhere as Thor collapsed to his knees, dizzied and seeing spots in his vision. He swayed where he knelt, clearly disoriented.
He ground his teeth in frustration at the pain and dizziness, grasping at Mjolnir uselessly, as the other hand steadied him on the ground. He couldn't quite see straight enough yet, to use the weapon properly.

After a moment to gather his bearings enough to look up, Thor is sadly greeted by the sight of empty ground before him.
"Loki-iii!" He shouts out, clearly seething with rage and betrayal. Damn. Again, his brother had fled.
